Sterile technique for at-home research
Clean surface, hand hygiene, single-direction swabbing, and needle discipline — the non-negotiables that prevent contamination.
Before you open anything
Clear a hard, non-porous surface. Wipe with 70% isopropyl and let it air-dry (not paper-towel dry — the alcohol needs to evaporate).
Wash hands for 20 seconds, dry with a clean towel.
Lay out: peptide vial, BAC, transfer syringe, insulin syringe, alcohol pads, sharps container.
The rules
One alcohol pad per puncture. Swab in one direction, do not scrub back and forth.
Never re-cap a used needle by hand. Straight into the sharps container.
Never touch the needle shaft, plunger tip, or the inside of a stopper.
Change draw needles if you accidentally touch anything non-sterile.
