BPC-157 Arginate is the arginine salt form of Body Protection Compound 157, a synthetic pentadecapeptide derived from a partial sequence of human gastric juice protein. This formulation pairs the BPC-157 peptide with arginine as a counter-ion, which proponents claim provides improved stability and enhanced oral bioavailability compared to the standard acetate salt form. The underlying peptide consists of 15 amino acids and has demonstrated cytoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and tissue-healing properties across numerous preclinical studies. It promotes angiogenesis, modulates nitric oxide pathways, and upregulates growth factor expression. The arginate form is marketed as offering better gastric survival and systemic absorption when taken orally, though direct head-to-head comparative data remains limited.

Mechanism of action
BPC-157 Arginate shares the same fundamental mechanism as standard BPC-157. The pentadecapeptide interacts with the nitric oxide (NO) system, modulating both endothelial NOS and inducible NOS pathways. It promotes angiogenesis through upregulation of VEGF and its receptor VEGFR2, enhances collagen synthesis via COL1A1 gene expression, and modulates the FAK-paxillin signalling pathway involved in cell migration and wound healing. The arginine salt may provide additional NO substrate, potentially complementing the peptide NO-modulating effects.
What the evidence actually shows
BPC-157 in general has extensive preclinical evidence from animal studies showing tissue-healing properties across multiple organ systems. However, human clinical trial data remains extremely limited for either form. Arginate-specific claims regarding improved bioavailability lack published comparative pharmacokinetic studies. Evidence relies on extrapolation from general BPC-157 preclinical data combined with theoretical advantages of the arginine salt formulation.
